It’s been two months since I quit my corporate career.

After catching a glimpse of what SAHM life would look like back in April, I never thought I wanted to exit the career world. But this year has forced me to reevaluate my life and where my priorities should be.

While I was extremely proud of the projects I supported and products I helped launch, I’m even more proud of the humans my husband and I are raising and the home we are running.

And while I’m grateful for the 6 years I spent at that job, it ultimately left me feeling stressed, bitter, and unfulfilled.

This past Thanksgiving I reflected on how extremely thankful I am for the opportunity I have now to stay home with our youngest son.

I traded in my laptop for building blocks.

I’ve declined the MSTeams invites and canceled conference calls to instead happily schedule time to play peek-a-boo and do arts & crafts.

Instead of logging my time and punching the clock, I’m hole-punching a clock to teach my toddler how to tell time when he’s home from daycare.

Instead of “putting out fires” at work, I had time to create homemade Halloween costumes for our family, including a “2020 Dumpster Fire” for me.

Rather than focusing on getting grocery products on shelf, I have time to make magical holiday memories for our boys with their Elf on the Shelf.

From peer training to potty training.

From working from home to working on my home.

I no longer chat around “the water cooler”, but babble and sign at the high chair.

Instead of crying at my desk, I get to console my son crying in his crib.

I swapped my “Monday - Friday 9-5” for being on call 24/7.

My compensation changed from earning a paycheck every other Friday to receiving free kisses, smiles, and snuggles everyday.

And it’s been so worth it.
