Welcome!

A Blog was Born has been a labor of love, many years in the making. Please follow along as I document some of the biggest life lessons I have learned regarding marriage, motherhood, and making the most of young adulthood!

Dear Baby G,

Dear Baby G,

Baby G,

If all goes well, tomorrow we finally get to meet you. As I write this I’m overcome with emotion ranging from fear, relief, excitement, and love, but also - guilt.

You are due 2/8/20, what I believe God intended to be the best birthday gift he could give me. But we’ve made arrangements for you to come early as I want you to have your own special day where we celebrate you and only you.

As the hours tick closer to your scheduled arrival, I wonder if I did “good enough” this time around and if you’re truly ready to come?

Have you had enough time to grow? Did I drink enough water after my daily Dunkin Donuts Iced Carmel Latte? Did I eat enough fruit to counter the lack of vegetable intake? Hypothetically speaking, how many chocolate chip cookies are ok to eat in one day?

Have you sensed enough of my love this pregnancy through belly rubs, my voice, and my hormones? Will you comprehend how much I care about you despite you not having my undivided attention like your brother did?

I know I’ve been more laid back with this pregnancy in what many may attribute to “second child syndrome.” But please know, despite the relaxed diet, last-minute nursery decorating, and unattended baby classes, you were planned for, prayed for, and already so adored. My first thought everyday for the last 9 months has been to keep you healthy, safe, and growing.

Your arrival will surely bring changes to our family - likely more mischief, messes, mistakes, and the occasional meltdown. But also more love, more laughter, and valuable life lessons.

I pray for your patience and understanding as I try to remember newborn routines while simultaneously navigating care for a toddler.

Your big brother Nolan is so excited to meet you and can’t wait to teach you about his favorite things like singing, playing with cars and trucks, and how to trick daddy into stopping for ice cream. I know you will be best buds, but there may be some confusing moments as you adjust to being siblings.

Know that your dad and I love you so much and feel blessed to welcome you to our family.

With Love,

Your anxious mama whose heart is already swelling with love (and who needs to lay off the Keebler chocolate chip cookies)
